Architecture, a tool in the art of travelling

Travelling, or tourism, are two terms with different aspects that conquered an essential spot in the society we live in. We are no longer able to equate our life, and a contemporary life, without thinking of our next trip, or how we will increase the tourism industry business, depending on the position we find ourselves in.

Whenever we plan a new trip, for leisure or business, we choose a hotel, a resort, or some other type of place to stay in, with spaces where it is possible to find activities, to satisfy emotions, to live experiences, to enjoy services that we consider important to fill in wishes and needs for our trip to the selected place.

There are many types of hospitality establishments, which answer to different types of markets, or travellers’ profiles, for business trips, leisure trips, affordable or luxury hotels, hotels for conventions, resorts to rest, with all-inclusive or budget categories.

When developing tourism projects, one must consider the widest range of conceptual solutions, aesthetic and technical, in order to provide as much comfort as possible to travellers. Comfort regarding wellbeing, thermal conditions, air quality, service quality, room design, with comfortable beds and good bathrooms, bar and restaurant with wide range of offer and quality, as well amenities offered to meet market demands.

Architecture is the art that designs and creates spaces where everything happens, incorporating all artistic and technical needs in order to enable projects to become reality and with the answers to the level of offer intended to meet the market demand. This factor is very important, both for offer qualification and destination growth, also for businessmen of the industry, who always intend the bedrooms to be occupied, every day if possible, other services to be appreciated and highly used, and travellers to end up very, very satisfied, so they return and recommend the place where they stayed very comfortably.

The type and the profile of the travellers is varied, but all of them search to satisfy their dreams, wishes, and needs, in leisure, rest, business meetings, sports activities, or other reason that led them to travel. This diversity implies a wide individualisation in the design of areas in order to meet each specific market.

The main goal is that travellers feel good and identify himselfs with the hotel, or resort, where they settle, naturally relating to the buildings and outside areas, as if they were at home. The aim is for the travellers that went out to discover a destination, to engage with the place that welcomes them, and to feel good with the environment, making everything look familiar to them, with great comfort, and meeting all requirements.

Travellers try to get to know a new destination and the place for accommodation has to provide a strong connection with the visited environment, as if everything is natural.

In order to provide this melting, architecture has to awaken all senses on each of us by means of the different environments built and of outside areas. A harmonious and consistent combination between architecture, interior design, landscaping, and the service that will be provided there will allow travellers to have unique experiences in a comfortable environment, making them want to come back.

The trip and travellers’ experiences are also the result of the activation of all the senses in the places where they settled and lived throughout their journey.

The project as to entail special attention to the use of textures, colours, sounds, of architecture compositions, of the scent of gardens, and of flavours of catering, in order to achieve their perfect connection, providing a safe road map to create memories, memories of an exceptional, pleasant and comfortable place where you surely want to return.

The trip’s memories will create a strong connection with the place where you were and a potential identity with the visited destination. This relationship is deeply rooted in the quality of the designed architectural space, surrounded by an integrated landscape composition and an Interior Design that generated the comfort for the stay. All together, they represent the physical platform that allows for the event of connection to the trip.

Architecture establishes itself as a central element in the building of this temporary living environment that must ensure the geometric and sensory conditions, for everything to be normal and comfortable.

Architecture may be seen, in this context, as a tool for creating the art of travelling.
