Colina do Outeiro

The intervention in the Seixal Bay presented itself as a challenge, an opportunity for dialogue between architecture and landscape. We sought to create a distinct environment, that blends harmoniously with its surroundings in a place that is undergoing a complete urban transformation.

The project, organized into three blocks that follow the natural slope of the land, takes advantage of the topography. The semi-buried floors, intended for parking and services, minimized the impact of the construction, allowing the architecture to blend into the landscape.

The view over the bay to the west, and the relationship with the Quinta da Fidalga to the south, guided the design choices. The horizontality of the volumes, the generous balconies that open outwards, and the glazed openings create a fluid connection between the interior and the exterior.

Light, an essential element in architecture, permeates the spaces and creates a serene and contemplative atmosphere.

Sustainability, a fundamental concern of contemporary architecture, is present in the installation of solar panels, the use of rainwater and the encouragement of sustainable mobility through the integration of bicycle parking in the garage areas of the buildings.

In addition to the residential units, the project includes communal spaces that promote social interaction – swimming pool, playground, sports hall – and green spaces that blend into the landscape.

We believe that this project contributes to the enhancement of the bay of Seixal by combining contemporary aesthetics with functionality and sustainability – principles that we represent in the architecture of our office.
