Park International School

In an extensive, steeply sloping intervention space, the new Park International School Complex is characterised by its occupying several volumes over the platforms created as a terrain domination strategy. The programme covers all the pedagogical cycles, divided into four nuclei: kindergarten or pre-school, primary school, secondary school and a sports pavilion with exterior areas for the practice of sports.

  • Location: Lisbon, Portugal
  • Sector: Public Buildings
  • Year: 2020
  • Area: 18.000 sqm
  • Client: Park International School Alfragide
  • Stage: Built

Characterised by their lengthwise volume, the bodies compete with the horizontality of the adjacent road and contrast with the vertical dynamic of the facade, which was designed to control exposure to the sun.
The complex’s geometry provides informal meeting spaces and offers free access to open-air areas.

The result is a school landscape for children and adolescents with flexible spaces that can adapt over time; multifunctional spaces that are open to the community and are essential for the regeneration of the local urban fabric. The whole complex offers both pupils and the teaching staff a complete, differentiating and innovative experience.
