Introduction
The project is to be developed in four stages for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations football tournament and has led us to intervene in an existing stadium in the city of Garoua. The solution seeks to respond effectively to the specific regulations established by FIFA, the characteristics of the site and the pre-existing structures. The first conceptual line consists of a perforated or distended semitransparent metallic skin, which gives the stadium a unique and contemporary character and creates the impression of a single piece rather than a collage of different styles. The second conceptual line, and the origin of formal materialisation, is based on the interpretation of elements associated with Cameroonian culture, with music as an important cultural manifestation and with the drum as a symbol of the nation’s identity.
