The Editory Riverside Santa Apolónia Hotel
In the context of the appropriation and enhancement of Santa Apolónia Station in Lisbon, which has been the scene of some major events in Portuguese history, we understood that maintaining the building’s exterior was essential. Integrating new elements into the facade was to be as precise and meticulous as possible and reflect a moderate intervention. As a concept for development of the design, we were interested in the station as a point of departure and arrival, as a scenario for events that mark and reflect the life of the Portuguese and Lisbon people down through history.
The building as the scene of departure, travel, emigration, adventure and saying goodbyes, and of return, arrival, starting over and passage between different realities.
