Arco Ribeirinho Sul – Plans for the Urban Regeneration of the South Bank of the Tagus Estuary

The debate “Arco Ribeirinho Sul – Visions for the Urban Redevelopment of the South Bank of the Tagus Estuary” brought together over 60 participants at the Saraiva + Associados auditorium. In attendance were representatives from municipal councils, construction companies, real estate developers, universities, and architects, in a moment of shared reflection on a territory with 500,000 inhabitants and national relevance. The session was led and moderated by S+A Senior Partner, architect Jorge Catarino, who framed the theme within the metropolitan context and encouraged dialogue among the speakers.

Teresa Almeida (CCDR Centro) stressed the urgency of investing in a region with great potential but financial fragility. Paulo Pais (Almada City Council) warned of the risk of territorial exclusion and the need for a common strategy. Frederico Rosa (Barreiro City Council) highlighted the importance of coordinating with the new airport, expected to generate 30,000 new jobs.

To envision a city of two banks is, above all, to think of a cohesive, sustainable, and strategically integrated territory.
