To design is to think — but to shape something truly unique requires clarity of purpose and the courage to innovate. This was the premise behind Linha, a collection I designed in partnership with HAPA.Design. It is a set of elegant and functional pieces that embody the fine balance between aesthetic purpose and technical precision. The protagonist? The slimmest faucet on the market, with a 35 mm cartridge — a bold statement in form and function. At S+A, we are used to thinking at scale. But scale means nothing without detail. Linha was born from a shared vision: to create something that is not only distinctive, but meaningfully different. This is not design for novelty’s sake — it is design anchored in durability, sustainability, and quality. Each piece in this collection reflects an architectural way of thinking, translated into industrial design. Together with HAPA.Design’s technical excellence, the result is a seamless fusion of timeless design and innovative functionality.
A process rooted in purpose
The creative process behind Linha was both intuitive and rigorous. As an architect, I am constantly navigating the line between function and emotion. Designing a faucet, or a shower, may seem like a small gesture compared to designing a building — but the scale of impact is intimate. It is about how we interact with the object, how it responds to our daily rituals, and how it complements the space around it. That was the mindset I brought to this collection. Every curve, every mechanism, was scrutinized — not just for performance, but for meaning. Could it be lighter? Slimmer? More tactile? Could it be designed with less material, but more intention? That is how Linha took shape.
Material honesty, technical elegance
We chose 100% original brass for its durability, its recyclability, and its expressive neutrality. The brushed nickel finish, both timeless and versatile, reinforces the design’s quiet elegance — a finish that resists time and use, yet never overwhelms the space it inhabits. Each piece is fitted with an aerator for optimal water flow and features vertical operation for intuitive handling. The mixers allow for precise temperature control, and easy installation ensures adaptability across a range of settings — domestic or commercial. This is industrial design with architectural discipline.
Partnership as creative catalyst
None of this would have been possible without HAPA.Design — a brand that shares our values of precision, sustainability, and innovation. Their ability to think beyond convention and to execute with technical mastery, made this collaboration feel less like a partnership and more like a creative continuum. With production based in Portugal, and a mindset focused on ecological impact, HAPA.Design redefines what it means to manufacture for the future. With Linha, we created something that doesn’t just occupy space — it enhances it.
