S+A embraces its leadership position with a firm commitment to a more sustainable future. Our ESG strategy is structured around our “5 Points for Progress,” which, beyond the Projects component, are reflected in our daily operations.
Planet
At S+A, we recognise the urgent need to limit our footprint, aiming to drive environmental progress through our actions and the support we provide to our stakeholders. Our approach to environmental sustainability focuses on minimising our operational impact and promoting strategic solutions aimed at containing, minimising, and mitigating the effects of our operations on the Planet.
With 2024 as our baseline year, we are committed to adopting new measures to reduce our environmental footprint and to raising awareness among our team about reducing the impacts of our operations. In this way, we commit to presenting our metrics transparently, highlighting the progress achieved and the areas for continuous improvement on our journey towards a more sustainable future.
People
We believe that our brand is our people. In our profession, the creative process is fundamental. The synergy between younger architects and more experienced professionals is, for us, crucial to the success of our projects. Over our nearly 30 years of activity, we have accumulated a vast and valuable wealth of knowledge. This knowledge is the foundation of our conceptual vision and the materialisation of our built work.
The experience we acquire, share, and debate is the foundation upon which we build projects that shape the future. We firmly believe that the future of S+A is intrinsically linked to passing this knowledge on to younger generations, to their skills, abilities and creativity. In this context, we foster a work environment of sharing, diversity, equity, and inclusion, across a plurality of employees, providing everyone with continuous professional development.
Prosperity
At S+A, we recognise that economic prosperity is inseparable from our dedication to environmental and social responsibility. We guide and manage our operations with an integrated perspective, as we firmly believe that financial success should drive truly sustainable growth, generating value not only for our organisation but for the vast network of stakeholders with whom we collaborate. In 2024, our economic performance led to external recognition with the PME Líder award (for the 16th consecutive year) and the PME Excelência award.
Transparency and rigour in our financial management are fundamental pillars of S+A. Annually, our activity is summarised in the Annual Report and Accounts, a comprehensive document presenting our performance and financial statements. Our governance structure includes a Sole Supervisory Auditor, who prepares an annual report on their supervisory activities, and our accounts undergo an independent Legal Audit by a Certified Public Accountant, ensuring their compliance and reliability. All our financial reporting documents are available and accessible in accordance with the law.
Processes
Today’s complex business landscape requires that we firmly embed integrity into our values, culture, and day-to-day work practices. At S+A, integrity is a fundamental value that guides us to conduct our business honestly and responsibly. In this context, we define our responsibilities to our clients, our people, shareholders, business partners and society at large.
Our business principles reflect our commitment to complying with the laws and cultures of the countries where we operate, and they guide our activities to ensure we conduct our business to the highest professional standards worldwide. This allows us to deliver exceptional and sustainable results for our clients, safely and consistently, through the implementation of robust internal processes that ensure ethics and good conduct in all our operations.
