Saraiva+Associados

This architecture and design project aimed to create the newest Portugália restaurant. In order to meet the expectations of an outdoor/sidewalk dining, we have combined the Group’s spirit with Alvalade’s neighbourhood regeneration and the new ways of living and consuming.

Júlio Pomar (1926-2018) last work is the most prominent aspect of the area of intervention: a decorative tile panel with azulejos Viúva Lamego. The walls are covered in white and blue tones, creating a distinctive yet inviting ambience. As for the architectural concept, a bar clad in lioz functions as a centerpiece and establishes contact with the more conventional restaurant areas.

Outside, taking advantage of the historical background associated with the building (former Biarritz Café), the façade was maintained and resolved in glass so that people outside could see the interior and evaluate its comfort and dynamism.
